Areas of Expertise
Person-centered therapy
My primary approach to therapy is to assist you in exploring and finding ways to address the problems you're experiencing. I believe that each of us is doing the best we can but we may not have the tools to manage our own struggles. I help you find the tools you need.
Somatic Experiencing
This approach to therapy helps explore the body's response to emotion. The entire nervous system is affected by our experience of life events, particularly traumatic events. The body stores these responses so paying attention to and allowing release of those sensations allows the body and mind to heal.
Positive Psychology
Incorporating ideas such as hope, spirituality, meaning and purpose into therapy balances the negative thoughts and self-criticism that usually accompany life problems.
My Approach
The direction of therapy is determined by a thorough psychological assessment and input from you. Information you supply, including a history of the problems you're struggling with, along with my thoughts, training, and experience help us set goals for treatment. You will be an active participant in the process. While I may make suggestions, you are in charge of the decision-making process. As our work evolves, we might set new goals for the work we are doing.
